Dr. Buddy Cooper
Northwest District Superintendent Dr. Buddy Cooper has been called to “be God’s man and to love His people.”
Born into a Christian family in Powersville, Ga., Dr. Cooper was baptized, raised, and confirmed at Powersville UMC.
A graduate of Middle Georgia College and Georgia Southern University, Dr. Cooper earned his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta.
In his more than 40 years of ministry, he has served as youth director for Pittman Park United Methodist Church in Statesboro, as pastor of the Crawford County Circuit, East Macon UMC, Christ United Methodist Church in Albany, Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, Waycross First United Methodist Church, Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald, St. Paul United Methodist Church in Columbus, and as Columbus District Superintendent.
Dr. Cooper and his wife, Sheila, have been married since 1975. They have a son and a daughter. His hobbies include writing and golf.
